Last year, as a New Year resolution, I made a promise to myself: I would start a blog site and post one blog every single day for 365 days.
The blog went live on 27 January 2025.
Today, I’m writing post number 335.
So—did that resolution help me?
Of course it did. But perhaps not in the ways I initially imagined.
Yes, it made me more focused. Writing daily forces discipline. There’s no escape from showing up, even on days when words feel reluctant or life feels heavy. But beyond focus, something deeper happened—I rediscovered my power of determination. A strength I once took pride in, but somewhere along the way, had forgotten.
Writing every day reminded me that consistency is not about inspiration; it is about commitment. About returning to the page even when there is nothing dramatic to say, trusting that something honest will emerge.
Another unexpected outcome was perspective. To keep the blog flowing, I had to learn to see the bigger picture—to find meaning in small moments, ordinary observations, passing thoughts. Everyday life slowly revealed itself as an endless source of stories, reflections, and quiet insights.
There were other benefits too—many of them personal, subtle, and difficult to quantify. But listing them all would only lengthen this blog unnecessarily.
Now, as another new year arrives, the obvious question follows: What next?
One thing is certain. After 27 January 2026, my blog will no longer be a daily affair. The target of 365 daily posts will be achieved, and that chapter will close gracefully. But the blog itself will continue—just at a gentler, more sustainable pace.
This year, however, my attention needs to shift elsewhere.
To my body.
There’s no denying it—I am aging. The carefree lifestyle I once enjoyed comes with consequences now. Recovery is slower, stamina demands attention, and neglect is no longer invisible. So perhaps it’s time to show my body the same discipline I showed my words.
Which brings me to my new resolution.
Why not aim for a six-pack by September?
Ambitious? Definitely.
Necessary? Maybe.
Challenging? Absolutely.
But then again, so was writing every day for a year.
Whether I achieve it or not remains to be seen. But the intention is set, the resolve familiar, and the lesson from last year clear: progress begins the moment you commit.
So here I am—fingers crossed, plans in motion.
What about you? What are you resolving this year?
