Beautiful Small Things

Small things are important and true perfection often resides in the little details. Big things exist because of the small things that hold them together. Take the Eiffel Tower, for instance—not the massive steel beams, but the thousands of tiny bolts and nuts that keep it standing.

As the great Lebanese poet Khalil Gibran once wrote:

And stand together, yet not too near together,

For the pillars of the temple stand apart.

And the oak tree and the cypress

Grow not in each other’s shadow.

What Gibran conveys is that the ceiling of the temple isn’t supported by the pillars themselves, but by the space between them. What we perceive isn’t always as it seems—although it’s hard for those of us rooted in science to accept that emptiness could hold anything up! There’s often a deeper story beneath the surface.

In love, many overlook the quiet power of simple things—the gentle moments, the unspoken gestures that weave hearts together.

Ignoring the small things is never wise.

Small things are beautiful too.

Sometimes, a simple smile can brighten a dull day. A single flower can ignite a romantic spark in someone’s heart. Even the sight of a little bumblebee can inspire.

According to aeronautics, a bumblebee shouldn’t be able to fly due to its small wings, yet it does—unaffected by human logic. It simply ignores what we say is impossible and soars anyway.

So, to those who say small things don’t matter, remember the bumblebee and remember the emptiness that binds.
